Top 5 Tweet Chats You Must Attend

tweet chats

In a world with hundreds of Tweet chats to choose from, there are so many that you can chat practically every day of the week if you want.  A Tweet chat is a when a group of people get together at a pre-determined time and date to discuss a specific topic using Twitter. My favorites fall into the categories of social media, marketing, and software tools.  How does a Tweet chat work?

Each chat occurs at a regularly scheduled date and time.  There is a host or moderator who leads the chat and determines the topic for that week.  When participating topic questions are posted,  the format “Q1.”, “Q2.”, and so on is used.  You can share your answers by replying with “A1.”, A2.” and so forth. Tweet chats are important because they:

  • Keep you up to date.
  • Allow you to meet and directly interface with industry experts.
  • Let you learn about the latest tools & technologies.
  • Make it easy for you to engage with your peers.
  • Meet new people with similar interests – everytime!
  • Did I mention they are free?
Tweet chats use hashtags at the end of each message to help in tracking and following the conversation thread.  For example the hashtag to use during LinkedInChat is #linkedinchat which you can put anywhere in your tweet.  This makes it easier to filter for messages pertaining to a specific chat.  You can follow along and contribute using your favorite Twitter client or use a web-based tool like I do.  My two favorites are Tweetchat.com and Twebevent.com that are freely available for you to use.  There is even an analytic tool for Tweet chats called Hashtracking.  You can get information on tweets, impressions, and reach for any of these Tweet chats.
